Direct Feeds Australia has designed certified products in the form of pellets & mixes. The main ingredients are to come from irrigation crops. This can be in the form of lucerne, wheat, corn, barley.

Overview

To reduce volatility and reduce risks of any supply issues, we have targeted crops that can be grown on irrigation. This allows us to form more strategic longer-term offtake agreements with our suppliers and means we are not so reliant on climatic seasonal conditions. This is because of the better predictability in costs and yields, which helps set a more stable price that satisfies both supplier and customer.

Furthermore, in our certified organic pellets we have been able to add organic lucerne as a key ingredient. Once again because of the higher yielding crop and reliability through irrigation this allows us to provide good returns for the supplier per acre but reduce volatility and price per tonne to the customer.

Our aim and focus is not on being the cheapest feed all the time but having a sound strategy that protects both supplier, when the price is low and the customer, from when the prices spike to a level that it is unsustainable for them. Our strategies help manage that volatility!

Lactiv8 – Power Mash Dairy Mix

The Power Mash Dairy Mix is a high protein mash/mix specially formulated to maximize output of the dairy cow. Different cereal grains are crushed and blended to the ultimate level to ensure a well-formulated protein concentrate of starch and bypass is readily available. We’ve also added our BioBuff products, packed full of microbial bacteria, yeast and enzymes, designed to encourage more efficient rumen function resulting in higher rates of absorption and utilization of feed.

The Power Pellet is a premium organic pellet that contains top quality ingredients and high levels of trace minerals, designed to produce quality milk and maximize output. Starting with a base ingredient of lucerne, a well-formulated protein concentrate is added to this pellet as well as other cereal grains to ensure there is enough starch for the dairy cow. This pellet is blended to the ultimate level prior to going through the steam press in order to produce a high-quality product that has enough starch and bypass protein to maximise the output of a dairy cow.

Famous for its affordability and great results, the Green Milka Pellet contains a mixture of high quality ingredients such as lucerne, cereal grains and trace minerals. Lucerne is not only a key ingredient in this pellet due to its role in the production of great milk, but it also allows Direct Feeds Australia to manage the supply issues and price volatility that exists in the organic cereal grain market.

Lactiv8 – Lead Feed Muesli

Lead Feed Muesli is our pre- calving feed, formed with high levels of microbial bacteria to stimulate the appetite of the cow before calving. This feed increases the strength of the cow and puts it in better shape leading into the calving, resulting in a drop in the number of calves pulled and a quicker return to the dairy. The Lead Feed Muesli also reduces the chance of metabolic issues after birth, a key factor in efficient production in the organic space. The use of antibiotics to treat such issues requires the cow to go into a withholding period before returning to the dairy, so it is essential that their use be minimised as much as possible.
